Massachusetts Data Protection Law: Are you prepared?
he Commonwealth of Massachusetts has issued a new regulation that requires all people who own, license, store or maintain personal information about a resident of the Commonwealth to meet specific security standards. This regulation goes into effect in March 1, 2010. The size of your business does not matter; the number of customers you process is irrelevant. This impacts nearly every business in Massachusetts as well as businesses outside of the state who collect information on Massachusetts residents.

Learn from the experts. Get the general, legal and IT facts from panelists Dean Gabbert of CMIT Solutions and John Moynihan, President of Minuteman Governance, Inc., a consultancy that provides information security services throughout the public and private sectors.

To assist you in scheduling, we are offering this program on three separate dates—same important information, three dates from which to choose. The first session already took place but the final two sessions you can still attend are on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 or Thursday, March 11, 2010. All sessions will run from 8 to 9:30 a.m., with registration and light breakfast from 7:30 to 8 a.m., at the Hotel Tria, 220 Alewife Brook Parkway, Cambridge. Free on-site parking is available or the hotel is walkable from Alewife Station on the Red Line.

There is no charge for CCC members or $15 for non-members with registration and payment two days prior to the event. No walk-ins will be admitted. Sessions will include:
• Discussion of the law and an overview of the rigorous requirements that will be required by March 1
• Practical suggestions on how best to comply with the law
• Discussion of actual case studies involving various small businesses that have achieved compliance
• Question and answer period where you can address your unique concerns and challenges
Special thanks to our venue host, the Hotel Tria.

2010 Networking Breakfast Series
Don’t miss this opportunity for structured networking, where you’ll be assigned to a table and each person will speak about his or her products or services. Then you’ll rotate to another table and do it twice more, meeting three tables full of prospective new customers or clients. The advantage to this type of networking is that you have the undivided attention of the group at your table. Instead of informally mingling with just a few familiar faces, you will experience a very focused networking scenario. Come prepared to talk about what you do and bring plenty of business cards.

Please note that in order to ensure optimal networking for all attendees, no more than two individuals from the same company may attend each breakfast. Admission includes continental breakfast, a Networking Guide listing the contact information of all of pre-registered attendees and eligibility for door prizes. Only those attendees who register by the Friday prior are guaranteed placement in the Networking Guide.
