For the true outdoor, winter experience
(December-mid March), head to sparkling
GALENA in the north-west corner of
the state. Here the summer golf scene
gives way to a vast panorama of snowy
splendour at the Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa,
with cross-country skiing, ice-skating,
horse-drawn sleigh rides and sledding all
on offer.
Chestnut Mountain Resort adds
downhill skiing on 19 runs, a vast terrain
park for snowboarding and a great kids’
programme. Go via the friendly, tree-lined
streets of ROCKFORD and you can also
try out the superb indoor Coco Key Water
Park – great fun at any time of year but
especially enjoyable in winter.
Snowmobiling is also popular in the
