He kept the car for
24 years before he
sold it to John Gay
on18th March 1990,
by which time it had
done 104,863 miles
and was still totally
original – it hadn’t even
had any paintwork!
John entered the car
into a few concours
events with very good
results and during
his ownership we
featured the car in
the paper version of
VolksWorld in 1991.
Although John didn’t
ever plan on selling
the car, circumstances
changed and thus a
couple of years later
