Jan Goermann, a 30-
year-old mechanic
from Germany,
bought this Beetle in
1997 in a condition
that he describes
as 4 out of 10. It was
produced in August
1965, so it is the fi rst
of the 1300cc Beetles
with 40bhp. As it’s a
changeover model,
VW took whatever
they had on the shelf
from the previous
model year together
with some of the new
model year parts.
