Following the judging on Sat., everyone is invited to join us as we move to the pavilion, by the
lake, for our annual picnic, Chinese auction, & CHIC DNA blood draw. Maryse Osborn, DVM
will be overseeing the blood draws. No pre-registration required, but please have your
paperwork filled out ahead of time. However, forms will be available on site. All are encouraged
to bring dogs in order to contribute to the banking of blood samples to be used for approved
research projects. More information can be found at the Dalmatian Club of America CHIC
DNA Program:
http://www.thedca.org/CHICDNA.html. Breeders should contact puppy owners
to see if they would be willing to participate. Even if they never followed through with
registering the pup, they can still participate by providing a copy of the pedigree. You might
wish to work with them on the filling out of the participant form & health survey:
(http://www.thedca.org/CHIC_DNA.pdf). Also, if you still wish to participate, but will be unable
to bring the dog, you can have your vet draw 5-10 ml of blood into a lavender top (EDTA)
vacutainer tube & kept refrigerated (not frozen) until it can be turned over at the clinic. It
should not be drawn too far ahead, though. Any questions on aspects of the project, contact
Ginger Iwaoka at
giwaoka@aol.com or Meg Hennessey at
snowood@T6WIRELESS.COM for
more information.
So, please consider joining us as we celebrate another year at this beautiful site. The
premium list is up on the Rau site. This isn’t just a bunch of shows...it’s an EVENT! There’s so
much to do in, and OUT, of the park. There are eye and cardiology clinics held 3 of the days.
Buses are available to transport people & dogs between the campsites & the show site during
show hours. Camping is available, but goes quickly, so don’t delay. Otherwise, consider
enjoying one of the many Bed & Breakfast homes in the area. We look forward to seeing
MANY of you there!!!
