SHRED
MECCA
In most places,
snowboarding could
be categorized as a
hobby. Utah is not one
of those places.
While most of this nice little vacation
guide contains photos and info
catering to those who choose to
cruise the slopes on two sticks, it
doesn’t change the fact that Utah
has long been at the epicenter of the
snowboarding community. Heaps of
pro-shredders call Utah home, with
even more making Park City and the
Salt Lake valley their base camps
during long winter months spent
fi lming in locations around the globe.
Why is this the case? It might have
something to do with the unmatched
access to so many world-class resorts
- 13 resorts statewide, seven of
which are located within 40 minutes
of Salt Lake City International Airport.
Or maybe it’s the fact that Utah
mountains receive over 500 inches of
perfect powder every season. Most
likely however, it’s these two factors,
combined with the assortment of
world-class terrain parks, urban
obstacles, and backcountry terrain
that have turned Utah into a
snowboarding mecca.
If you’ve already got your board bag
