wards freestyle-specific designs. River running per-
formance is more of an afterthought, while serious
playboating prowess is the true raison d’être. There’s
just enough volume and speed to get down the river,
but the Flirts are most comfortable grabbing air, go-
ing vertical and carving on edge.

Introduced in 2006, the CR (Cross River) boats re-
main Liquidlogic’s mainstays for getting to waves
easily, surfing and spinning them in style and enjoy-
ing the river in all the comfort of your favourite easy
chair. A wide stern, reduced kick rocker and rounded
sidewalls make for predictable eddyline crossing and
great edge-to-edge stability on a wave. The large
sidewalls do limit vertical play moves, but ripping the
CR sure beats watching Dynasty from your La-Z-boy.

Just like an all-mountain plank that can huck kickers
while slaloming through the glades, the Recoil was
built to freeride on the river—playing on every little
wave while running challenging lines in serious rap-
ids. Pyranha used a longer, narrower hull for speed
and manoeuvrability downriver and added edges
that could carve or cartwheel over eddylines. With a
generous overlap in the weight ranges and a signifi-
cant increase in length, opt for the medium Recoil if
you want effortless acrobatics and the large size for
zippier attainments.

Stemming from the desire to create a larger Spe-
cialist—Bliss-Stick’s punky, little freestyle boat—the
brand new Smoothy quickly evolved into an entirely
different boat. With just enough room to stave off leg
cramps, the Smoothy’s forward-focused volume also
gives it considerable pop for blunts or loops. As the
shortest boat in our lineup, the Smoothy reveals its
spud-boat heritage with play-specific performance.
