Having spotted Richie King’s Black
1955 ’Vert on the cover of VolksWorld
in October ‘92, Mike Attewell became
an instant convert to all things
air-cooled Volkswagen...
Mike Attewell is no stranger to
air-cooled VWs, having owned HOW THEY
several cool cars since buying
his fi rst issue of VolksWorld in
DID IT
1992. Among this list he cites his

favourites as being a 1969 Beetle,
over the circle to see
a 1968 Deluxe Type 2 and a 1964
Karmann Ghia we featured.
However, since selling his Ghia,
Mike yearned for an earlier VW
and set his heart on a Cabriolet
Beetle. Mike set about
searching for a worthy project.
