Take a behind the scenes tour of Microsoft on June 17
The High Tech and Life Sciences Committee invites you to Microsoft’s new research and development center at One Memorial Drive on Wednesday, June 17. This is the third stop on the C³ tour, Behind the Scenes at Cool Cambridge Companies.
Opened in July 2008, Microsoft Research New England continues to build on Microsoft’s commitment to collaborate with the broader research community and to advance the state of the art in multiple areas of computing research. The lab is pursuing new, interdisciplinary areas of research that bring together core computer scientists and social scientists to understand, model, and enable the computing and online experiences of the future.
Microsoft’s commitment to community, especially those in which they reside, is unparalleled. Whether it relates to educating local youth, supporting start ups or providing space for local organizations, Microsoft wants to share their knowledge, space and resources to support our Cambridge community.
Three areas of focus for this new facility are Microsoft Research, Microsoft startup lab, and mature product development. We will be privileged to hear from four members of the Microsoft Team that will describe the areas of focus:
• Sara Spalding, Senior Director
• Gus Weber, Community Relations Manager
• Reed Stuevant, Managing Director, Microsoft Start-up Labs
• Jennifer Chayes, Managing Director, Microsoft Research
Join us as we tour, learn and welcome our newest neighbors to Cambridge. Registration begins at 6 p.m. The tour and program will run from 6:30 to 7:30, with networking, tapas and drinks from 7:30 to 8:30. Please note that an ID is required for entry into the building.
