s those of you who have bought before will
know, some mortgages are more appropri-
ate than others and some lenders are more
service-oriented than others. But if you bought a
few years ago, you will find that the mortgage
market has changed considerably.
There may be different types of mortgage on
offer which weren't available the last time you
bought; there may be charges which did not exist
the last time you bought; and there are also likely
to be new types of lender. You will also find the
current climate will limit your choice of
mortgage.
You still need to make sure that you can afford
your monthly payments, and that you under-
stand how your mortgage works. You should also
be made aware of all the additional costs
involved in buying that you may not have bud-
geted for - the mortgage indemnity premium,
arrangement fees, redemption penalties, and so
on. All these are explained later on in the guide.
