Canadian Government Nemak of Canada (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) has re-


ceived $3 million from the Canadian government. Te funds could help Nemak create 70 jobs and help the company develop its products, including aluminum engine blocks. According to a release, the blocks will be produced by an


automated robotic system. Tis automated production system will allow Nemak to develop flexible manufacturing process- es, making the company more globally competitive. “If Canada is to succeed in making the cars of the future,


we must embrace greener, more sustainable technologies. Tese technologies will create the well-paying middle-class jobs of the future,” said Navdeep Bains, Minister of In- novation, Science and Economic Development. “Advanced research and development projects challenge today’s auto- workers to enhance their skill set.” Te funding is being allocated via the Automotive Sup- plier Innovation Program, which supports research and de- velopment activities by small and medium-sized companies that provide components, parts and production systems for the automotive supply chain. Nemak is a provider of lightweight solutions for the global


automotive industry. Te company specializes in the devel- opment and manufacturing of aluminum components for powertrain and body-structure applications. Te Automotive Supplier Innovation Program provides firms with new op- portunities to participate in global supply chains. “By having a workforce with skills that are in demand and


the technologies that will shape the future of the industry, Canada’s auto sector can secure its place in the global supply chain of tomorrow,” Bains said.
