A farewell to Peter Marty The creation of this issue was filled

with joy, sadness, gratefulness and many blessings. To say it gave us on staff the “feels” would be an understatement. It is with much gratitude that we present in

this issue Peter Marty’s final column for Living Lutheran (and The Lutheran). He’s blessed us with his thoughts over the last six years as our lead columnist. His gifted writing has spoken to many and provided guidance and conversation starters in our faith and on our journey with God. Please join me in thanking Peter for sharing his time with us. Peter, you will truly be missed. When our amazing manager of graphic

design, Michelle Goodman, first showed me “A Visit” by world-renowned artist John August Swanson, I knew she had found the perfect cover for this issue. At first glance, I noticed beautiful, vibrant colors. And as I looked closer, I saw movement in the details of people together—busy growing fruits and vegetables; taking care of their community; walking alongside one another; actively, selflessly being. Swanson graciously allowed us to print

a portion of his “A Visit” (the original is much larger) to represent our cover story titled “Religion—good for your health and well-being” (page 14). As spring comes to a close and the

sun-drenched days of summer start to take over, remember that summer is the perfect time to take better care of ourselves and our Earth.
