atmosphere is partly down to its size, which allows teachers to get to know their pupils as individuals, and partly to the school’s approach to pastoral care which has been rated as ‘Outstanding’ by both Ofsted and the Independent Schools Inspectorate. An array of support networks also exist within the school, including personal tutors, mentors and housemasters and housemistresses. One of the most eye-catching, though, is the way children from different year groups are brought together in a family group for events and activities. This not only allows children of different ages to get to know each other, but gives younger children the chance to learn and take advice from older ones who have experienced and overcome challenges in the past.

Maximising Every Child’s Potential Culford’s environment too pays significant dividends when it comes to the pupils’ education. Recent studies have shown that when children feel safe, secure and happy their capacity for learning increases. To capitalise on this, Culford offers an extremely broad

curriculum that allows children to discover their passions and their pathways to success irrespective of their individual abilities. For those who are academically gifted, Culford’s senior and prep schools have a range of scholarships and offer a ‘Gifted & Talented and Scholars’ programme. The programme is open to all senior pupils and seeks to stretch students through a lecture programme, Oxbridge- style tutorials and tailored assignments preparing them for entry to leading universities and colleges. Children whose passions are sporting or artistic are superbly catered for too with a range of scholarships including tennis, swimming, art, drama and music, all of which are taught in Culford’s own fantastic facilities by specialist coaches and teachers.
