Oeko-Tex issues first Leather Standard certificates I

n time for its 25th anniversary, Oeko-Tex has expanded its product portfolio to cater for the leather sector with the Leather Standard by Oeko-Tex. Oeko-Tex now inspects and certifies leather products, such as all types of clothing, leather shoes, upholstery materials, as well as products that are a mixture of textiles and leather. This is in response to the latest developments in the textile and leather goods market.

During certification, leather products are tested with regard to formaldehyde, heavy metals such as chromium(VI), chromium, arsenic, lead and cadmium, pesticides, chlorinated phenols, phthalates, processing

agents and preservatives, PFOS, PFOA, as well as banned Azo colourants and other colourants.

As with Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex, the more intensive the skin contact, the stricter the limit values that need to be fulfilled. A distinction is therefore made between four product categories: product class I (babies and toddlers), through to product class IV (furnishing materials such as upholstery covers, etc.).

The first certifications are being carried out with the sheepskin producers G.L. Bowron and Gerberei Hofbrucker, as well as the retail chain Lidl. Further certificates are expected to be granted soon.

Dimensions creates new online ordering and reporting systems

orporatewear supplier Dimensions has developed two brand new online systems for ordering and reporting for the benefit of clients.

The first of these is Detail, which provides a visual ordering experience for Dimensionsʼ customers and their wearers. This has been developed to be easy to use on a PC, tablet or smart phone.

The platform has the

flexibility to be tailored to meet specific client requirements and includes a user-friendly electronic catalogue, secure access, allocation control at point of entry, budgetary and authorisation controls, and order acknowledgment via email. A credit card payment facility is available if central invoicing is not a requirement.

Clients to benefit Dimensions has also launched MiDetail, a self- service reporting tool which gives up-to-date visibility of all the core information pertinent to the clientʼs relationship with Dimensions. The system provides the client with an initial data summary dashboard, which offers information and statistics relating to recent uniform sales and returns. This allows clients to view how their account is performing, whenever they need to. There is also an order profile section which includes data for any specific product, ordering location or time parameters that the client chooses. MiDetail provides 24/7 access to data and summaries, which are easy to interpret and utilise. The client also has the ability to control dynamic views, to sort or download the data as required and see information on a specific product, location or time. Data can also be downloaded into Excel for further analysis and manipulation.
