Modern components and construction ensure much improved performance, reliability and robustness. For example, captive J-links are used to select the capacitance or current range required, while no zero control is required. The internal 9V PP3 battery should give at least 6 months continuous use. This instrument gives outputs in the range 0-1V in response to extremely small currents or charges. An external 1V voltmeter is used to show the reading. Selecting 1 of the 1nF or 100nF capacitors or 10M, 1000M (1G) or 100G resistors, (the x1 and x10 gain switch on the amplifier provides the decades between these values) means that current ranges from 100nA to 1pA or charge ranges from 107 to 109 Coulomb can be measured. All 4mm sockets are PTFE insulated to minimise leakage currents. The input socket is a UHF socket with 4mm central socket.

B. Dual Purpose Electroscope With Scale
This gold leaf electroscope is great for hands on experience with electrostatic principles in physics classrooms and labs. The solidly constructed sheet anodised aluminum walls of the electroscope are mounted on a plastic base. Front glass window slides up to allow insertion of ionising material in chamber. Transparent scale is attached inside chamber to measure the deflection of the gold leaf.
Includes two gold leaf sheets, fitted with 4mm socket. Assembled, the electroscope measures 165 x 95 x 70mm.
Note: The gold-leaf does not come pre-attached to the electroscope. Instructions on how to properly attach the gold-leaf to the conducting rod are included with the product manual.

A 40 × 40mm zinc plate on a 4mm connector which can replace the top plate of an electroscope.
The plate can be used to show discharge under UV Lighting and the photo-electric effect. A suitable wavelength UV lamp is required. Dimensions: 40 x 40 x 25mm.
