How do you leave home and soar?
Erin Proud, communication major and Michigan native, who is ready to build a career in marketing-and unafraid to expand her horizons beyond the ordinary.
Erin Proud
KNEW EARLY ON that UB was the right fit for her future. It offered majors that would prepare her for a dream career in marketing, a nationally recognized education that would open doors, and an inviting community-all at a great value. She quickly realized that everything about UB made her decision to attend college in another state easy. Even though UB was six hours away, Erin felt confident UB would set her up for success.
"As I got to know UB, I knew I could leave my hometown and be OK," she says. "Everyone starts off as a blank slate here, and it's so easy to connect with resources you need to be successful."
When she arrived at UB, Erin found mentors who emphasized the importance of gaining experience in her field. This led to internships right here in Buffalo, and connections so strong that UB soon felt like her home away from home.
"From my first day at UB, I walked into a community that I instantly felt a part of. The network I've created here gave me the confidence to discover who I am."
