Describe your typical week I tend to spend my Monday working from home catching up on admin and emails, and then the rest of the week out and about. After hours and hours of being stuck on the M25 over the years, I have learned to avoid it on a Friday!


How big is the sales team? Jonathan Whiteley was looking after the whole of the UK on his own before I joined last summer. I now cover the south, and Jonathan takes care of the north; however, naturally there are crossovers from time to time as it is just the two of us.


What do you keep in the boot of your car? Being on the road naturally means your car ends up as an extension of your office, or maybe that’s just me? I can’t remember the last time I used my boot for anything but work stuff. It also means it’s full of sweets, clothes, shoes and anything that I may need during the hours I spend on the road.


And what’s on the iPod? If you ever end up on a road trip with me, be prepared to sing your heart out. I have the most diverse range of songs on my Spotify, meaning one minute we could be singing to Westlife and the next vibing to Jamaican dancehall or gangster rap.


What snack keeps you going on the road? I try to stay as healthy as possible while on the road;

What’s the best question a travel agent has ever asked you?


Is it possible to base customers in Sydney but do a day trip to Uluru?


What’s the most lost you have ever got? I am pretty good at finding my way about thanks to my satnav. If I didn’t have it in my car, I’d be terrible at figuring it out myself. I once parked in a multi-storey car park in a rush and took no notice of what level I had left my car on.

however, my guilty pleasure has to be a Greggs sausage roll. So wrong but also so right!


What’s the silliest thing you’ve ever done as part of a sales visit? Mine is probably a bit more embarrassing than silly. I had a meeting upstairs in a store with an agent once and when leaving, I fell down the stairs from top to bottom. I literally rolled off into the store in full view of the agents and customers. Not one of my finest moments that’s for sure.


Who would be your ideal driving companion on a long journey? I’m going to say Barack Obama. I’d absolutely chew his ear off. Plus I’ve seen his moves, so

he’d be a good person to sing and dance with.


What’s your favourite alcoholic


drink? I’m pretty boring when it comes to alcohol, and tend to stick to vodka and Diet Coke. I am quite partial to the odd Jagerbomb every now and then, which never really ends well.

Which is your favourite destination that your company sells? I am very lucky as the four destinations we sell are all pretty amazing; Australia, New Zealand, America and Canada. My favorite is probably New Zealand. The people, the scenery, the adventure – there is so much diversity.


What key messages do you try to convey in an agent visit? I want them to take advantage of having us as support, whether it’s for a training session, attending holiday shows or doing bespoke client events.


What’s your advice for agents who don’t currently sell your product but are keen? Speak to our destination experts in Manchester to help craft your client’s holiday. Our teams have travelled extensively and make personal recommendations that you can’t find on Google.
