SPICEROADS HEADS OFF BEATEN TRACK

James Chapple, deputy news editor

Cycling specialist SpiceRoads has launched four itineraries taking in everything from Morocco’s Atlas mountains and Atlantic coast to Thailand’s southern beaches and the bustling Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur. Each SpiceRoads itinerary

is developed in-house and led by an expert guide, focusing on the route itself with the aim of getting travellers off the beaten path and away from common routes. Its 11-day Morocco: Atlas

to Atlantic tour sets off from Marrakech before heading into the foothills of the Atlas range and traversing its mountain passes, with views of the desert landscape and snow-capped peaks.

Riders will enjoy traditional

Berber hospitality, staying in riad-style accommodation. “Morocco is a rewarding destination with fantastic

scenery and unique culture,” said SpiceRoads managing director Daniel Moylan. “It’s also a convenient trip for those in the UK looking for a ride that has it all.” The trip leads in from

£1,462pp including all accommodation, most meals and the services of a guide and support team. Elsewhere, SpiceRoads’

11-day India Coast to Coast itinerary starts from £2,060pp heading from Chennai to Kochi via Pondicherry and Madurai; its 12-day Thailand to Malaysia tour (from £3,300pp) starts in Krabi before heading south to Kuala Lumpur; and its Northern Vietnam KOM Challenge from Hanoi to Sapa (from £1,565pp). Prices exclude flights and typically include accommodation, a guide and support team, most meals and refreshments. Bikes can be hired for the duration of each tour, while clients can pay a supplement for single- occupancy accommodation.
