S


ardinia is no longer the best-kept secret in the Mediterranean. It is a mature


destination which Europeans know is sunny and safe, as well as rich in natural beauty, history and excellent food. Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is the main


gateway to this wonderful island, handling the most international passengers, 1,172,460. It’s catchment area covers 56% of total available beds on the island. Since 2009 the traffic has been growing at an annual average rate of 7% and in 2016 the airport recorded the highest growth amongst the Italian airports at 14%. In the past two years, 27 new routes have been opened, expanding the network to 93 connections towards 18 countries. Olbia airport is constantly working with the public and private sectors to improve the tourist product and reduce seasonality. As a result, in 2017 four new year-round routes are being operated; London Gatwick by easyJet, Barcelona by Vueling, Amsterdam by Transavia and Florence by Mistral Air.
