Introduction EAOW

East Anglia Offshore Wind (EAOW) has been awarded a licence to develop around 7,200MW of offshore wind projects within an area of seabed off the coast of East Anglia which EAOW have named the East Anglia Zone. The first project to be developed within the zone is the East Anglia ONE OffshoreWindfarm. EAOW is a joint venture between Scottish Power Renewables (SPR) and Vattenfall Wind Power Limited (VWPL).

EAOW have submitted an application for a Development Consent Order (DCO) for the East Anglia ONE Offshore Windfarm (November 2012) which was accepted for examination by PINS in December 2012.

The DCO application was accompanied by an Environmental Statement providing information on the Environmental Impact Assessment carried out for the project.

Written Scheme of Investigation

RSK Environment (RSK) has been commissioned to prepare a written scheme of investigation (WSI) for the archaeological assessment of the East Anglia ONE Onshore Cable Route, whereby the export cables for East Anglia ONE would be installed alongside additional infrastructure (pre-installed ducts) for future phases (THREE and FOUR).

5

ThisWSI provides a suitable and proportionate framework for the archaeological assessment and mitigation for the area physically affected by onshore electrical transmission works.

6 7

The archaeological assessment for the converter station location is addressed in a separateWSI.

The WSI is provided in response to consultation undertaken with Suffolk County Council (SCC) and English Heritage (EH). SCC has provided a series of standard requirements for archaeological work documents, the content of which are addressed by thisWSI.

8

This document will be monitored and updated throughout the consents and post- consent process to ensure that the scheme of investigation is appropriate to the final project design and as each stage of work is completed.
