Cable re-burial using jetting


Worst Case Assessed in the Environmental Statement


The coastal process model has assumed the maximum number of cables and cable lengths as shown in 'Additional Cable Laying'. Maximum increases in suspended sediment concentrations and deposition have been modelled assuming a worst case of jetting/vertical injector techniques and cables buried up to 5m depth. The worst case assessment in terms of impacts on ecology is as follows: (i) For export cable, assumes dredging work and jetting along 80% of cable and trenching along inner 20% of cable. For interconnector and inter-array cables, assumes dredging and jetting. In terms of substrate loss, jetting impact width assumed to be up to 5m and trenching impact width assumed to be up to 50m (including spoil area). In terms of maximum sediment disturbance, jetting assumed to be worst case.
