AMAWATERWAYS OPENED ITS FIRST DEDICATED UK OFFICE LAST YEAR. WHAT ARE THE MAIN BENEFITS FOR THE TRADE?


The UK trade is our sole focus, which means we dedicate 100% of our time to supporting our trade partners. With the opening of the office last year came the ability to make key decisions in the UK, which means we can be agile and flexible around what the market requires. We are incredibly lucky to have such great support from Rudi Schreiner and Kristin Karst [co-owners], who have entrusted us to look after what they recognise as an important market, and they have given us all the tools to help us grow our business.


HOW HAS THE INTEGRATION OF THE NEW TEAM GONE?

was personally known or referred, which means integration has been fairly seamless. Many of us have worked closely before. For instance, I’ve known Stuart [Perl, UK managing director] for more than 10 years, Anita our reservations director for 15 and Augustus Lonsdale our commercial manager for longer than I care to remember! We have two fantastic sale managers – Jon Knight and Joanne Smithies – who have backgrounds in a luxury cruise line and specialist small- ship travel, giving perspectives from both sides. Everyone offers experience, but also a differing outlook, which gives us a huge knowledge base to draw from.


WHY IS THE TRADE IMPORTANT TO AMAWATERWAYS?
