random and select participants to be senders or receivers.
g Seat senders on one side of the room and receivers on the other. Place experimenters on both sides to conduct and observe the experiment.
h Experimenters on the sender side of the room will give two target image cards to each sender in their group and ask them to focus on sending each image to their partner on the other side of the room for three minutes. Experimenters on the receiver side will tell the receivers to draw any images that come to mind during the experiment, observe and collect the images the receivers draw.
i After six minutes, the senders, receivers and experimenters get together in groups to discuss the results.
j Give each group the questionnaires for them to compare the results with the profiles.
Each group will discuss its results with the rest of the class:
• What did the results show? • Is there evidence of the experimenter effect? • What precautions were taken to avoid fraud? • How effective were they?
• How could the experiment have been improved?
Depending on the time available, or for homework, students can analyze the data and write a report about the experiment referring to Unit 8 for the structure of a practical report.
