This unit focuses on the topic of memory. It looks at historical and current models of memory and describes the mental processes involved in registering, storing and retrieving memory. The first listening extract, from a lecture, defines memory and describes several models. It looks at input–transformation and storage and retrieval processes, and discusses different approaches to each of these. It also introduces theories of forgetting.
