On the opposite side of the central


circulation, facing the northwest façade, the distribution of support services, such as administrative rooms, nursing stations and access to vertical circulations, gives the building rationality and adequacy of the interdependent sectors. This façade is protected by ceramic tiles - cobogós- and vertical aluminum brises-soleil. The main building is connected to a vertical volume which houses the stairs and elevators. A research office and an auditorium are located in the curved annexe, which is surrounded by Burle Marx gardens, facing the tile panels designed by Athos Bulcão. The building was listed in 1992 by the State Institute of Cultural Heritage (INEPAC).


Conclusion These examples emphasize the concepts of Modern Brazilian Architecture for the


design of hospitals, forming institutions capable of meeting the most advanced standards of medical healthcare, to the demands of the present time. It should be noted that this


architecture was able to absorb new technologies over time, making its attributes compatible with a pioneering approach to environmental comfort and humanisation, which are integral parts of the modern project. These structures can be enhanced through the addition of modern technology while preserving their architectural characteristics. The hospitals above continue to operate, combining striking aspects of Modern Brazilian Architecture and incorporating new medical trends over the past 60 years. The search for new stylistic and


conceptual parameters to support future hospital plans must observe the qualities used by Modern Brazilian Architecture and its legacy for the design of complex structures such as healthcare buildings.


It should also establish the use of design elements that can withstand the impact of updating and preserving their building integrity over time.
