Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CCAM) Prince George County ccam-va.com


CCAM aims to fi nd solutions for manufacturing better products. It focuses in three research areas: adaptive automation systems, surface engineering and additive manufacturing. T is 62,000-square-foot facility includes lab and production space, including an area for heavy equipment and surface coating processes. CCAM has more than 30 government and industry members.


Commonwealth Center for Advanced Logistics Systems (CCALS)

T is center, modeled after CCAM, is a collaboration between government, universities, and industry to improve logistics systems. It aims to accelerate the transition of technologies from development through commercialization.


Innovation Research Park @ ODU Norfolk irpodu.com


Located on the campus of Old Dominion University, this research park is close to key places, including downtown Norfolk, Eastern Virginia Medical School and the Port of Virginia. T e park is made up of two 100,000-square-foot buildings boasting Class A offi ce and wet/dry lab space. It sits within federal and state incentive zones, providing signifi cant benefi ts to tenants.

T e 1,500-acre park is home to several life science and information technology companies and government clients.


Innovation Technology Park is anchored by George Mason University’s Prince William Campus, which houses GMU’s College of Science. Several of the companies located at the park collaborate with the college’s faculty and researchers. Two power companies and 10 fi ber providers serve the park.

T e Institute for Advanced Learning and Research aims to serve as a catalyst for economic transformation in Southern Virginia. T e organization’s goals are to boost advanced learning; research and workforce and economic development. IALR off ers biology, chemistry and polymer laboratories to aid in product and process development. It is home to the Gene Haas Center for Integrated Machining, which provides students with hands-on training in advanced manufacturing.

T e U.Va. Foundation developed this 562-acre mixed-use research park, which is zoned for various purposes, including commercial and laboratory space. Tenants can enjoy the park’s mountain views, walking and jogging trails and restaurant and catering services.

Adjacent to the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Medical Center, the park is home to nearly 70 companies, state and federal laboratories, and research and administrative functions at VCU. Approximately 2,400 researchers, scientists and engineers work here.

T e VMASC at ODU is a research facility that focuses on computer modeling, simulation and visualization. T e center works to solve real-world problems using physical, social and human systems in simulation. Fields of study include data analytics, advanced manufacturing and cyber security.


Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute Roanoke vtc.vt.edu


T e Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute is a partnership created in 2007 between Blacksburg-based Virginia Tech and Carilion Clinic, a nonprofi t healthcare organization based in Roanoke. T e research institute seeks to address various issues, including substance abuse, cancer, Parkinson’s disease, obesity and diabetes.

T is 230-acre park is home to more than 180 companies employing 3,000 people. T e center is adjacent to the Virginia Tech campus; 9 miles from Interstate 81 and less than a mile from U.S. 460. T e goal is to add 16 buildings to the center.

Located on Virginia’s Eastern Shore, this 200-acre park is adjacent to the NASA Wallops Flight Facility, which also contains the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport (MARS). T e WRP is ideal for companies in the aerospace and defense industry sectors. Amenities include a 1,200-foot taxiway, three-phase electric power and broadband fi ber.
