CORPORATE COLOURS

Stylish carpet tiles from Desso have helped to create a stylish on-brand working environment for a leading surveyors firm.

When leading firm of surveyors, CBRE, moved to new offices in the heart of Birmingham’s vibrant business district, the ability to create high- quality, flexible office space was of the upmost importance.

Adopting flexible working practices, such as hot-desking and offering collaborative working space, CBRE wanted stylish carpet tiles that would complement and help define working zones. The firm’s corporate colours were also going to feature across the flooring scheme and CBRE wanted wide-ranging colour palettes to choose from to create a good match. With this in mind, CBRE turned to Desso (part of Tarkett Group) and selected three of its carpet tiles – Frisk, Grids and Flux.

DESSO Frisk, part of the Materials in Touch collection, was supplied to the first-floor offices. Specified in black with small grey horizontal and vertical lines, the structured loop pile was chosen for its quality and longevity – important characteristics for a busy office environment.

On the first floor corridors and walkways, DESSO Grids, part of the Patterns@Play collection, was selected, again, for its longevity and the tactile quality of the structured looped pile. Supplied in black, light grey, dark grey and green tones, Grids added subtle structure to the corridors and walkways. Containing ECONYL, a yarn made from 100% regenerated

nylon including post-consumer yarn waste from Desso’s Refinity plant, Grids also added the all important Cradle to Cradle element to the overall design scheme.

On the ground floor and in meeting rooms, DESSO Flux, part of CARPECTECTURE Colour Dimensions

collection, was installed. This had the effect of stylishly linking the meeting rooms with a combination of matt and shiny yarns, in a linear pattern.

CBRE, Birmingham Spokesperson said: “As well as being a recognised supplier of quality carpet tiles within the industry, Desso was chosen for its vast colour palette, all six colours were selected to reflect CBRE’s corporate brand colours, as well as wall coverings and furniture. The aim was to create a high-quality experience for visitors and our clients, as well as creating a real presence for CBRE within the heart of Birmingham’s business community and I feel we have definitely achieved that.”

Overlooking St Philips Cathedral, the CBRE Birmingham office move and subsequent refurbishment reflects CBRE’s ‘Workplace360’ initiative, which aims to foster a culture of collaboration and enhanced productivity in the workplace. CBRE Birmingham is one of first in a list of offices to embrace this initiative – including Tokyo, Madrid and the global headquarters in LA.
