W E Ncrg a e vn Dear WME Partners and Supporters,
WORLDMISSIONARY EVANGELISM HAS BEEN WORKING TO IMPACT THE LIVES OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES IN NICARAGUA FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS.
In December 1972, just weeks after Thanksgiving in the U.S. and two days before Christmas, a catastrophic earthquake struck near Nicaragua’s capital city. WME immediately responded to the major disaster, first by providing relief and then by establishing a WME Children’s Home and School at the nearby town of Masaya. By God’s grace and the continued support of our sponsors, this outreach has blessed the lives of generations of children, their families and the community.
Now, let’s move the focus to where we are today.Th
e poor neighborhood surrounding the WME School is filled with single mothers, parents struggling to find work and many families requesting help with food and clothing. So it should not be surprising that many attending our school are part of WME’s Child Sponsorship program. These sponsored children are one reason so many families come to our church.
November is more than a time to count our blessings and give thanks. It’s also a time to share blessings with those forgotten and overlooked by the world.
In 2020, the staff and administrators report that the WME School is educating and caring for nearly 300 children. Our school remains one of the few public or private educational facilities available to the area’s grade-school and middle-school children. WME’s commitment to educating the children of Masaya and providing students with a path to success has been so dramatic in scope and impact that our school’s programs have been recognized by the Nicaraguan government. Yet even as we count our blessings for the outstanding contributions of this educational mission, we have problems to address.
Supervisors at WME’s School are pleading for immediate help with key repairs to the facility, funds for outreach to marginalized families and gifts to purchase essential supplies for children at the school. Some of the specific problems and issues that need to be addressed are:
Portions of the roof on some classroom buildings have deteriorated over many years and must be repaired as soon as possible.
These children are being educated and have school supplies thanks to WME donors. More children need this opportunity. Can you help us?

“Behold, the eye of the Lord is upon them that fear Him, upon them that hope in His mercy; to deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: He is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name. Let Thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in Thee.”
– Psalm 33:18-22
