Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread

“Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.” – Luke 6:20-21

“He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.” – Proverbs 22:9 Dear WME Partners and Supporters,

“GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD.” Given all that has happened this year, this simple prayer to God for daily provision in Matthew 6 strikes many of us with a greater sense of urgency and a deeper meaning than in days past. For some, those words now echo a desperate plea coming from deep within. It’s a request for God to supply immediate physical needs of food and shelter, but it also reflects a humble petition for The Bread of Life to fill up the heart and soul.

So what can we do RIGHT NOW??? As followers of Christ, we can be a living testimony of what God has done and who Jesus is. And one way to do that is to feed the hungry, give water to the thirsty, shelter the stranger, clothe the naked, save the lost, and help the hurting and displaced.

WME’s Food For Hunger program has a simple objective — We are following the Lord’s commandment to love our neighbors as ourselves by meeting their most basic, immediate needs. And while we address their most basic physical needs, we also minister the Good News of Jesus Christ to their hearts and souls.

Food For Hunger allows us to provide immediate help to children, seniors, homeless and families in the USA and abroad who lack

food and other basic necessities. There are so many people who need a helping hand right now: There are women in homeless shelters looking to escape abusive relationships and the darkness pressing in on them. There are individuals who find themselves homeless, living on the street or in

a car along with the few possessions they have left to carry. There are families struggling to pay their bills who must look to a food bank or

food pantry for help to feed their children. There are poor villages of people living on the edge of life and death where

the supply of a few farm animals (like chickens, rabbits, goats or a cow) would change lives.

And there are children living in poverty who are part of WME’s Sponsorship

program who need one person to provide a monthly gift that helps to provide shelter, food and hope for tomorrow.

Imagine the joy of having someone care enough to give you a meal when you were hungry and hopeless.

Hungry, lost, battered by events and situations they have no control over, they are looking to us to see if we will bring them hope, love and security.
