“Be merciful unto me, O God, be merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in Thee; yea, in the shadow of Thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.”
“Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16
Dear WME Partners and Supporters,
MANY HAVE EXPERIENCED IT AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIVES— A time where things didn’t work out as expected or hoped, leaving normal financial resources stretched razor thin while bills continued to pile up. It may have happened due to a loss of work, a health crisis, a calamity, unforeseen expenses or similar difficulties.
For many, the situation is resolved in a short time and life moves on. But for others, the hardships persist for months or even years, as on a daily basis they watch their resources drain away. Stress builds as individuals worry about how to earn money for their families. Some become ashamed, feeling they have let their loved ones down. Others lose sleep as they wonder how to survive the next weeks or months ahead. The thoughts of where to go and who to turn to haunt every waking hour. That is where WME and its partners step into the gap. When there is no place else to turn, we are there.
WME FOOD PANTRIES PROVIDE AN ESSENTIAL SERVICE FOR THOSE CAUGHT IN HARD TIMES WHO NEED IMMEDIATE SUPPORT.We operate food pantries that give
year-round help to those living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to feed their families.
Today, food pantries are in greater demand than ever before. The COVID-19 crisis that has gripped the nation has forced many out of work or cut their hours. Parents who depend on schools for breakfast and lunch programs have had to arrange every meal for children forced to stay home, thereby straining shrinking finances. In these times, we have not only made distributions directly to the needy, but WME has also used mobile food distributions to supply boxes with necessities like milk, eggs, bread, frozen meats and canned goods to those with no transportation. Desperate mothers have received diapers and baby wipes.
Marcia, who supervises a WME food pantry in West Virginia, shared her thoughts on the outreach:
The need for food pantries is greater now than anytime in the past decade.
