DARTMOUTH MAYFLOWER

Dartmouth is one of 11 Compact towns from the UK engaged in the Mayflower 400 project along with Leiden, Holland and Plymouth, US. For the full story visit our website www. dartmouthmayflower400.uk

GRAND RIVER PAGEANT Plans for the Grand Mayflower River Pageant on the afternoon of Sunday 30 August are developing and details can be found on the website. https://www.dartmouthmayflower400.uk/projects/ grand-dart-river-pageant/ We hope as many local and visiting craft of all shapes and sizes will want to take part in this exciting event. The only constraint is that boats of any description must be propelled by either a motor or manpower with oars; sails will not be hoisted. Each boat must be able to maintain a controlled passage speed of 3 knots. We have revised our plans for the Post-Pageant extravaganza; this will be in the Old Market Square at Dartmouth on the Sunday evening. There will be hot food, live music and of course, a bar or two. Tickets will be set at £20 per head (but drinks are not included) and we hope as many Pageant participants will gather together to make this the best of occasions. We do anticipate that tickets will go quickly and so suggest that you sign up for the Pageant and Party early to secure your needs. An application form will be available on the website shortly.

SAIL TRAINING FOR

TEENAGERS We have some exciting Sail Training opportunities for deserving local young people. Thanks to our generous supporters, these events are free of charge for selected teenagers. You could propose someone you know for selection for a 5-day cruise in Sail Training Vessel Prolific - they might be a young carer, be recovering from injury or illness, or bereavement, or might not otherwise be able to have an adventure like this. We have 4 places to allocate to the most deserving youngsters, so let us know why your young hero is worthy of consideration. Alternatively we have re-

served Pilgrim of Brixham (Brixham Trawler) for 4 day sails during May- flower Week, for those who would prefer a shorter experience. See our website for more informa- tion. https://www.dartmouthmay- flower400.uk/sail-training/
