Salcombe Crabfest 2020 - a ‘cracking’ day to remember!

Now in its fifth year, Sunday 3rd May sees the return of the sensational Salcombe Crabfest. This annual charity event is a wonderful family day out with amazing entertainment for all ages, superb exhibitors, and most importantly… delicious food!

S

alcombe Crabfest is a one day festival organised by the Ro- tary Club of Salcombe, and is

completely free to attend. Inspired by Salcombe’s mouth-watering brown crab, the event celebrates the region’s remarkable fishing and tourism industries, whilst also raising money for local charities. One of the highlights not to be missed is the Chefs’ Demonstration Tent in the Creek car park. Enjoy a packed programme of ex- ceptional chefs cooking up some delightful dish- es, which onlookers are invited to sample! This year attending chefs include the Rick Stein Exec Chef Stephane De- lourme, the Rockfish Group Head Chef Kirk Gosden, BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen chefs Freddy Bird and Jane Baxter. Other returning chefs are the Oyster Shack’s Andy Richardson, the Ocean’s head chef Janey Syrett and winner of the 2020 Trencherman’s Award for ‘Best Newcomer’, Jamie Rogers of Twenty Seven in Kingsbridge. Get

atmosphere is fantastic. Come along and see for yourself!”

“The

there early for the best seats, and watch these chefs - plus many

more - create exquisite

meals before your eyes. Taking place throughout Sal-

combe, visitors can stroll through the Creek car park and along Island Street, which is pedestrianised for the day to make way for an impres- sive street market. Don’t forget to bring your reusable shopping bag

to fill with goodies from the local exhibitors lining the streets. Selling an exciting mix of food and drink, artisan crafts, clothing and gifts, there’s something for everyone. For those looking to take a taste of Crabfest home, head to Normandy Quay and buy freshly landed crabs directly from the fishermen off their fishing boats. And don’t forget to make your way to Whitestrand for even more shopping opportunities,
