ARE YOUR LIPS READY FOR THEIR MISTLETOE MOMENT?

Whether it’s an air kiss or full on romantic smooch Christmas certainly is the time of year when lips are kept well and truly busy. But what can we do if our lips are feeling… a little less voluptuous than they used to? Aesthetics expert Dr Claire Oliver (BDS) shares her Top Tips to Enjoying Full Lips!

CARRY OUT YOUR RESEARCH

The number of Lip filler treatments rise significantly at this time of year. Before any treatment is carried out it’s very important that you have a full consultation during which there should be a detailed face to face assessment, clinical photos and a full medical history taken in order to ensure that you are a suitable candidate.

DOask to see before and after photos of patients your practitioner has treated themselves and make sure the results are very natural and in keeping with what you want to achieve. Remember ‘less is most definitely more’ when it comes to fillers and a little more can always be done later!

DON’T be tempted by an offer or a cheaper price. When it comes to how you look and your health it really isn’t the time to be cutting corners by buying cheap. A cheaper price can often mean that the person carrying out the procedure is unqualified and that the procedure will take place in a non-

medical environment which is, in my opinion, a recipe for disaster.

CHECK OUT THE PRODUCT BEING USED FDA approved products are a must. There are hundreds available yet only a small number are approved to be safe and effective to use. At Air Aesthetics we use a combination of Juvederm® and Belotero® both of which are FDA approved and a natural hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is naturally produced in our own skin cells in a bid to maintain moisture levels. Once the filler is injected it sits below the skin providing structure and plumping out the skin. These are non-permanent filler which is safely and naturally broken down by the body and its effect gradually fades away. To maintain fuller lips you can simply choose to have ’touch up’ treatments.

As an experienced practitioner I use a combination of both products to suit the area and client being treated. For instance, I may use Juvederm Volift to create volume to the face and combine with a Belotero specific lip product to create subtle
