The Story Written In the Eyes of A Child “…I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.”

– Psalm 69:20

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain...”

Dear WME Partners and Supporters,

Please let me introduce you to a precious, 10yearold girl from India. HER NAME IS SAMIRA. Samira lived with her parents and siblings in a small hut. Her mother was sick, but the family managed as best they could. Late one night, some drunkards attacked their hut. The men destroyed all their belongings, beat up Samira’s father, and stole the little money they had set aside to buy medicine for the child’s mother. The loss and humiliation was too much for the father. He suffered a mental breakdown and abandoned the family. Today his whereabouts are unknown.

With no means of support, Samira’s ailing mother could not afford medical treatments. Because of their abject poverty, the children were left without food or education. WME Native Missionaries visited the family, shared God’s word, and offered comfort. The mother opened her heart and accepted Jesus as her personal Savior. She then asked for us to take Samira into the WME girls’ home at Berhampur. So we opened our doors and our hearts to Samira.

Feeling secure and safe, Samira is very happy at her new Home. She is active, intelligent, and loves school. We discovered she likes to read books and play with other children. Her favorite fruit is the orange, and she loves the color green.

Samira, whose story we share this month, was once mired in hopelessness, but look at her now!

Sweet Samira is just one of the many children whose life began tragically, but whose story is dramatically being changed through WME’s Child Sponsorship program. When you support a child for just $35 per month, you are stepping into a life without hope and allowing Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith, to rewrite their story into one of triumph!

My heart breaks when I look into the eyes of a child and view nothing but hopelessness. It’s unsettling to see old, haunted eyes in such a young face – Eyes that have lost their innocence and vitality from too much hunger, too much loss, and too much suffering.

There are so many children like these who still live without hope and security. Your sponsorship of just one child could help change that!

But for children who are sponsored, the story is much different. I have been privileged to see the incredible changes that happen to children saved by WME’s Child Sponsorship program. Light and happiness return to their eyes. They have a safe place to call home where a good meal and real bed await them. They go to school, make friends, and learn what it is to be accepted. Christian staff care for their needs and demonstrate God’s love daily. Because the future is full of possibilities, hope blooms anew in their eyes.
