Beccles Cycle for Life

RIDERS are entering the best- known local charity ride and more entries are needed. Now in its eighteenth year, Beccles Cycle for Life charity ride organised by the Rotary Club of Beccles will be on Sunday 12th May. The ride is to raise funds for East Anglian Air Ambulance and

the Rotary Club’s

charitable trust equally. The Rotary club’s trust supports both local charitable causes and international charitable

needs, including

for example the provision of survival supplies for disaster relief. The ride is suitable for all

ages and abilities with five possible distances of 8, 16, 25, 41 and 50 miles and it attracts families and regular cyclists alike.

Family entries and teams are at a special rate and the shorter distances are especially suitable for younger riders and

been on

their family members. This year, for the first time, riders of all categories can enter directly online through the event’s secure website and those who prefer postal entry can download forms from that website.

It is also easy to create a JustGiving page through a link on the website, or use the traditional paper sponsorship forms if preferred.

The routes are the same as

last year, heading south from the Sir John Leman High School. Maps of all the routes are on the website. This year to meet insurance requirements everyone must wear a cycling helmet and children must be accompanied.

There are prizes to be won by riders who raise sponsorship and the eligibility conditions are on the website.

Wishing Beccles Public Hall continued success Hall is

now celebrating seven years of community ownership and in

that time the venue has

become established as a hub of the local community.

The variety of what you will see at Beccles Public Hall is staggering. Anything from opera to wrestling and ballroom dancing to rock ‘n’ roll, there really is something for everyone! Over recent years there has been a real focus on much needed renovations and restoration work. This year the focus is very much back on the programme of events, and there is plenty coming up to keep you entertained. With

such diversity agents you

could be forgiven for thinking that there is a huge team of event bookers, planners, and marketing

round the clock to keep the acts flowing. Well, you might be surprised to learn that Beccles Public Hall is primarily run by volunteers with just a few paid

staff looking after the day to day running of the business. This is an important point. The hall wouldn’t function without volunteers and the team

are always looking

for new volunteers to get involved. There are plenty of ways to join the fun whether it is stewarding at one of the shows or events, working the bar or looking after the Box Office. The team are also interested

in hearing from

people who might only be able to attend bi-monthly planning meetings

programmes and ideas. There is plenty that volunteers can offer a venture such as this so please do get in touch and see how you can help.

Of course, audiences attending shows is what a venue such as this is all about. But there is so much more that can be done here and Beccles Public Hall is available for hire. The Hall is perfect for hosting events and functions.

to discuss new

There is superb accessibility and facilities and plenty of room to hold exercise classes, seminars, lectures, meetings etc. Having worked hard to make
