FUTURE PODIATRIST?

I’m Adele’s daughter Freya Holmes, I’ve just started my level 3 in Health and Social Care at Newton Rigg College in Penrith. My mum has inspired me to take this course as it could lead to future career opportunities in the Health Profession, including one of the possible options I’m considering – Podiatry.

I’m interested in considering Podiatry as a career option because I enjoy working with and helping people of all ages. I have spent a fair amount of time over the past couple of years working with my mum and seeing how much she enjoys the job she does. Some people think feet are gross but to me, feet are just like any other part of the body, so don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed of your feet.

I have just finished my GCSE’s at Cockermouth School and achieved well with 8 passes. I have really enjoyed my time at Cockermouth School and had very supportive teachers and made great friends throughout the last 5 years. I have signed up for the World Challenge and am really looking forward to going to discover everything that Malaysia and Borneo have to offer with the school in July next year.

I love playing sports and I am in the AZTECS netball team. Having strong healthy feet is really important in netball, as being fast and agile is all part of playing the game. I’d like to learn more about the biomechanical aspect of podiatry, as without healthy feet people can’t easily take part in sport and physical activity and this can lead to many other negative health impacts, which can detrimentally affect the way people feel.

If you would like your feet checked out give my mum a call, as I often think she’s like a car mechanic but for feet and everybody’s feet need an MOT sometimes.
