A REALLY BIG THANK YOU! ~ ALLERDALE MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY ~
As humans we may come in all shapes and sizes but one thing we have in common is our skin and in my career as a skin expert I have seen 5 common skincare mistakes being made repeatedly.
The price of these mistakes is millions wasted every year buying the wrong products and the truth is because they’re the wrong products, they either don’t work, or they can cause skin damage.
So, what are these common skincare mistakes?
Mistake number 1 Not cleansing properly
It’s the biggest mistake most people make when it comes to their skin and the root cause of a multitude of skincare problems.
Why? Because not cleansing properly leads to a dull looking complexion, skin irritation, spots and eventually, fine lines and wrinkles.
One cleanse isn’t enough though, the key to glowing radiant skin is double cleansing. The first cleanse removes make- up and impurities (the posh way of saying dirt) and this then allows your second cleanse to clean your skin and this make a huge difference to how it looks and feels.
Mistake number 2 Exfoliating either too much or too little
We should exfoliate, but only once or twice a week. If we get carried away and buff away too much skin, it inevitably leads to sensitivity and redness.
Exfoliating the right amount gives you brighter, smoother, clearer skin. Make time for this extra step in your routine and you’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.
Mistake number 3 Not getting enough sleep or water
One of my golden skincare rules... Eight hours of sleep and... Eight glasses of water!
Water keeps your skin cells hydrated. Just imagine them like nice plump grapes that will shrivel into dried up raisins if you don't drink enough water and you'll understand the importance of proper hydration. Why take the risk of dry, dull looking skin when eight glasses of water a day is all it needs!
Eight hours of sleep combines with your water consumption to repair, regenerate and rejuvenate your body and skin.
Mistake number 4 Not wearing sunscreen every day
It's not just for the beach, instead wear it every day… even when it’s raining!
Because UV rays are one of the major causes of ageing to your skin and while you're applying your sun screen, don’t forget to put it on your neck and the backs of your hands.
Mistake number 5 And this is the biggy!
Never, ever use moisturiser around your eye area, unless of course you want bags!
Allerdale MS Society would like to thank everyone who contributed to the grand total of over £1200 from their Virtual Bike Ride.
This was held in partnership with Bike the UK for MS. They were riding from John O’Groats to Land’s End with the aim of raising £1.00 per mile. The gym team completed collectively 124 miles in 40 minutes.
Thanks to Megan Stevenson from Allerdale Leisure Centre.

Why does this happen? Moisturiser is simply too heavy. Eye creams are lighter in texture and formulated to be extra mild for a reason which is, so they don't irritate the delicate eye area.
Remember, these small changes will make a dramatic difference to your skin, but if you’re still struggling or are not happy with your skin, just give me a call, as I would love to help.
