HOLIDAY TIME!

I am having a break, spending some quality time with my girls while they still want me around.

Lucy Curtis (left), the Podiatrist from Cardiff, is house and practice sitting, while we are away in Croatia.

My lovely practice at home is a perfect place to work. It has allowed me to work full time for 7 years, as well as being a wife and mum. Recently, I am the ‘only daughter’ again, as my parents are getting older and I’m needing to travel back home to the Wirral to see them. I have realised that I cannot do everything, so I have hit lucky and found an amazing Podiatrist to help me permanently in the practice.

Lydia Holmes, like myself, has relocated to Cumbria after leaving her position as a Specialist Podiatrist in the NHS. She qualified from the University of Northampton in 2007 and started her Podiatry career in Southampton City PCT, then

took promotion to Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust. She enjoyed her time in Oxford becoming a Team Leader and like myself, taking a specialist role in high risk and ulcerated foot conditions.

Lydia is working in my practice every Monday and Tuesday, which has given me the chance to take a break, do some paperwork, visit housebound patients and if necessary, visit my parents.

Lydia has been here a few months now and says that she’s loving working in my practice and my patients and I are all loving having her here!

Ben Lumley, musculoskeletal specialist Podiatrist, still visits the clinic to see all our Biomechanics/MSK patients.

So, a big massive WELCOME to Lydia and a big THANK YOU to Lucy for looking after the practice and our home again!

Of course, a big thank you to Joanne, Paula and Sharon, for keeping us all in order!

Adele INFO@THECOCKERMOUTHPOST.CO.UK THANK YOU

Castlegate & Derwent Surgery

Thank you to our Patient Participation Group (PPG), who in July saw members of the group hosting a stand in the Leisure Centre and Sainsbury’s. The aim was to raise awareness of the services on offer at the surgery and provide information to the population who perhaps don’t visit the surgery often. The feedback the members received was good and complimentary to the practice which is great to hear.

THE POSTER

Our PPG were also helping us to promote our new signposting poster which is displayed on the opposite page. GP appointments can frequently be booked by patients where they could have been seen by an alternative healthcare professional. We are constantly looking at ways to help reduce our waiting times and ensure patients see the most appropriate person, we have therefore created this poster to help patients. We are also asking patients to help with the delivery of continuity of care and for ongoing problems to please consult with the same GP. Our Advanced Nurse Practitioners are available daily to provide advice or see patients who contact us for some of the more acute conditions, in the coming months we will be providing further advice to patients on self-care for minor ailments.

RECEPTION Those

patients that have visited the surgery will have noticed our not so small new reception desk taking pride of place outside room 5. We hope that patients find this an

improvement on our previous reception area, we are always looking for ways to make improvements for the benefit of patients.

FLU CLINICS Details of our flu clinics and which patients are

eligible will be available shortly, dates for September will be posted on our website, newsletter and within the surgery. As always we value the support we receive from patients who attend the surgery for their vaccination.
