people in four divisions operat- ing in 17 countries. Tim Griffin, DCC Technology, Managing Director said, “The acquisition of Stampede adds an exciting new brand to our portfolio that complements our Exertis brand in Europe. The combination of Stampede’s expertise in value added dis- tribution and our resources is going to unleash a new wave of opportunity for our partners in ProAV around the world. By establishing a presence in North America, we will be stra- tegically positioned to leverage all of the new opportunities we expect to develop as a result of this acquisition.”

Stampede President and CEO

Kevin Kelly called the acqui- sition “a game changing par- adigm shift” that ushers in an exciting new era for a global ProAV industry.

“Overnight,

Stampede has become one of the world’s largest ProAV dis- tributors, able to operate at a level certain to create exciting new business opportunities for our partners. Supported by the resources and long-term commitment of DCC, we are now able to scale across all ProAV product categories in all vertical markets globally in a way that we simply could not do on our own. For our manu- facturer partners this means greater reach and scale.

For

our resellers, this means more products

and new product

categories than ever before.” Kelly called the acquisition the right move at the right time.

Midwich has published a trad- ing update for the six months ended 30 June 2018. The Group has traded well in the first half, with good top line growth delivered across all of its geographies on a con- stant currency basis. Overall gross margins have improved, helped by the contribution of the three businesses acquired in 2017.

Cash generation in the first half has been slightly behind the Board’s expectations, due to an investment in working capital later in the period. The Board continues to expect cash generation for the current year as a whole to be in line

with the Group’s long-term av- erage performance.

Following this encouraging first half performance, and current positive sales momen- tum, the Board now anticipates that the Group’s performance for the current full year will be ahead of its previous expecta- tions.

Stephen Fenby, Managing Direc- tor, Midwich Group plc: “Follow- ing this encouraging first half performance, and current posi- tive sales momentum, the Board now anticipates that the Group’s performance for the current full year will be ahead of its previous expectations.”

Kevin Batley, Founder and Man- aging Director of the Sahara Presentations Group PLC, Saha- ra AV Distribution, Clevertouch Interactive Panels and Sedao Digital Signage, will present the 2019 AV News Awards Keynote Address. “As Managing Director, my business life has focused around Sahara and has domi- nated my thinking for 30 years. The Sahara Presentations Group today is recognised as one of the leading manufacturers and distributors of AV technology around the globe.” Kevin’s career started in the analogue days of AV and em- braced almost all of the ‘hot’ technologies to emerge in the digital era. “Everything we have accomplished as a company over the last 20 years is due to the amazing talent and in- genuity of our employees who created a world class compa- ny that has been limited in its growth potential only by its balance sheet. With this

acquisition, we no longer have the same financial constraints limiting what we can do as a val- ue-added distributor.”

Kelly said that the acquisition

does not change the way Stam- pede conducts business around the world. In fact, it will accel- erate the company’s global busi- ness development efforts. “Our employees, resellers and vendor partners will see an exciting evo- lution in how we go to market and the level of investment we can now make to grow our busi- ness.” With the completion of the acquisition, Stampede Founder and CEO Mark Wilkins has decid- ed to retire, after nearly 40 years of service to the ProAV industry. “I am incredibly proud of every- thing we have accomplished as Stampeders over these last 20 years,” Wilkins said today,“Now, with the backing and support of DCC, I can retire knowing that the company’s future is in very good hands.”

Then, in 2008, Kevin intro- duced the first touchscreen designed for education use at BETT. The Clevertouch range of education and corporate touchscreens developed from this pioneering model – argu- ably Kevin’s most successful entrepreneurial venture to date.
