DAY 1: Arrival to Bari Palese airport .Pick up your car rental and go to the hotel. Check in and the rest of your day is at leisure. In the morning you might want to take a walk through the winding streets of the old town where you can visit the Romanesque cathedral and the monastery of St. Benedict, and the castle, home to the masterpieces of Paolo Finoglio, 6th-century court painter. Overnight at the hotel. DAY 3: Breakfast at the hotel. Half Day Cooking Class at the Masseria San Pietro in Conversano. Have an unforgettable experience with a cooking lesson at an original Apulian Masseria, a private house where you will learn how to prepare some typical local dishes like focaccia with cherry tomatoes, orecchiette (home made pasta) with mashed beans, fried Altamura breadcrumbs, salad cake with roasted vegetables, homemade jam biscuits. Dinner will follow at the end of the lesson and it will include Apulian wine.Overnight at the hotel. DAY 4: Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure. Continue to Melfi’s area (Basilicata). Accommodation, dinner and overnight in Bari. DAY 2: Frederick's Castles And Horace, The Roman Poet. Breakfast and visit of Melfi’s Castle, built by Frederick II of Swabia that overlook the spectacular scenery of the medieval village. Transfer to Ripacandida; TASTING LUNCH with honey tasting at the beekiping farm "Rondinella". In the afternoon visit of Venosa where it will be possible to see the archae- ological Roman area which includes the so-called Horace’s House and the Incompiuta complex, part of Norman Abbey of SS. Trinity. Dinner and overnight. DAY 3: Lucan Dolomites (Home Of Angel Flight). Breakfast and departure for Lucan Dolomites, mountain complex that dates back fifteen million years ago, located in the heart of Basilicata characterized by spectacular spiers and natural profiles. Visit of the picturesque village of Pietrapertosa, characterized by particulars alleys and buildings included in the rock. TASTING LUNCH at oil and pistacchio farm. Continue to San Mauro Forte, and visit to archers palace; continuing for Milgionico. Departure for Matera. Dinner and overnight. DAY 4: The European Capital Of Culture 2019 - Matera. Breakfast and morning tour of Matera’s Sassi. Free lunch. During the day visit and TASTING LUNCH at oil farm (Fratelli Quarto). In the afternoon the tour continues to the Regional Park of the Rock Churches. COOKING LESSON in restaurant. Dinner and overnight. DAY 5: Matera Park Rock Churches. Breakfast and guided tour of the old town of Matera. Free lunch. In the afternoon departure for the excursion in the regional park of Murgia. Continue to the Ionian area and accommoda- tion. Dinner and overnight. DAY 6: Magna Grecia And Arab Settlements. Breakfast. Excursion to Metaponto, ancient city in the heart of Magna Grecia and home of Pythagora’s school. Visit of the archaeological area, with the famous Palatine Tables, the ruins of a Doric temple of the sixth century b.C. TASTING LUNCH at the winery Crocco. Continue with the visit of Rabatana (Arab quarter) of Tursi and the Sanctuary of Anglona, Romanesque style, dating from the 10th century. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight. DAY 7: Pollino National Park. Breakfast. Visit of Pollino National Park, which includes the provinces of Potenza, Matera and Cosenza: it is the largest wildlife park in Italy. Transfer to the villages of Arbëreshë culture, founded by Albanian communities who settled there after 1470, with Orthodox rituals and Greek-Byzantine culture. Free lunch. Short route inside Bosco Magnano, full of waterfalls and uncontaminated nature corners, where still lives the otter. Dinner and overnight. DAY 8:Taste Of Apulia - Bari Vecchia Quarter. Breakfast and departure to Bari to visit the historical center (Bari Vecchia), fully restored with the European Urban project. Visit to the church of St. Nicholas, a prototype of Romanesque-Pugliese, whose crypt contains the sepulcher of the saint patron of the city, and the Cathedral of San Sabino, which was built in the 10th century by the archbishop Rainald. Transfer to Bari airport.
