ALL THE LATEST NEWS, VIEWS AND STORIES FROM AROUND YOUR LOCAL AREA:OCTOBER/NOVEMBER HOW TIME FLIES AT DERWENT DENTAL CARE!

It’s been 3 years since I took charge of Derwent Dental Care and after a couple of detours and much head scratching, I am delighted to say that the work on our new premises is complete. We will be relocating to the 2nd Floor of Derwent House, Wakefield Road on Thursday 26th October. We are all excited about the move, as it will allow us to develop the quality and range of services that we can offer to our patients.

Four surgeries have been equipped with high quality equipment including amazingly comfortable dental chairs, helping our patients to relax even during treatment! There is a spacious waiting room, consultation suite for confidential conversations and a room dedicated to oral hygiene instruction where our trained staff can teach children how to clean and look after their teeth. A lift provides excellent access for those patients who can’t make the stairs and once on the 2nd floor, all the rooms are accessible in a wheelchair. Oh, and I must not forget the free patient car park!

It does however take more than bricks and mortar to make a successful dental practice. All the staff more than exceed the minimum number hours of training required by the GDC. Our dentists have undertaken courses in advanced restorative techniques over the past year and we will continue to keep up-to- date with the latest developments. Over the next year, our nurses will become more involved in the patient record taking process by learning to take clinical photographs and impressions of teeth.

I am also delighted to announce that Jack Spedding will be joining us in January to provide Dental Implants and carry out more complex surgical procedures that previously have been referred outside of the practice. Both Michael King and I have worked alongside Jack at his practice in Carlisle for over 5 years and we are looking forward to him joining us in Cockermouth. Jack will also be accepting referrals from other practices in the area.

We look forward to opening our doors to you soon.

Paul and the team at Derwent Dental Care
