MCV Naonal Meadows Day Wildlife Event: Saturday 1st July

To celebrate Naonal Meadows Day, MCV are pung on a series of FREE family ‘Wildlife Walks & Idenficaon Sessions’ at Studland Common.

The Parish Council has given us permission to set up our MCV gazebo in the Community Orchard (inside the second gate at the northern end of Westminster Road – Gate 12) which will be the starng point for several wildlife events.

30th June at 9.15pm: Moth Session on Studland Common with Mary Macmillan and Richard Coomber, our two experienced moth guides, (Bring a fold‐up seat, torch & insect repellent).

Sat 1st July 10am: Mary and Richard will display and talk about what they captured the night before. 11am: Giles Darvill will hold a Bumblebee Session in the MCV gazebo. 12noon: Tony Locke & Keith Metcalf will lead a Bird‐watching Walk. 1pm Buerfly Walk with Tani Read and Keith Metcalf. 2pm: Flora Discovery Walk. Led by Tony Locke, Wendy Thomas & Mary Wheatley.

All walks will be around the Community Orchard, Studland Meadow, Studland Common and a small part of the woodland. Each session will last about 1 hour and the walk sessions will be over reasonably level ground covering about 2km. Youngsters under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

All wildlife walks and sessions will start from the MCV gazebo in the Community Orchard. Visitors are asked to use the NFDC car park (southern end of Westminster Road) or take the healthy opon to walk to the start point at the Orchard. The nearest WCs will also be in the NFDC car park.
