About Music & Memory MUSIC & MEMORYSM


is a nonprofi t organization that


brings personalized music into the lives of the elderly or infi rm using digital music technology, vastly improving quality of life. They train elder care professionals in nursing homes and other settings, as well as family caregivers, how to create and provide personalized playlists using iPods, enabling those struggling with Alzheimer’s, dementia, and other cognitive and physical challenges, to reconnect with the world through music-triggered memories. By providing access and education, and by creating a network of MUSIC & MEMORYSM


Certifi ed Care Organizations, Music & Memory aims to make this form of personalized therapeutic music a standard of health care. The astonishing results of Music & Memory’s program are documented in Alive Inside, a fi lm

This uplifting fi lm chronicles the stories of multiple individuals around the United States and Canada who have experienced the healing power of music through the MUSIC & MEMORYSM


Program, including the story of Henry who suff ered from dementia for a decade and


would barely speak until Music & Memory set up an iPod program at his nursing home. Alive Inside was the winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival Audience Award for US Documentary.
