Their pools are available in two separate construction systems – panel construction and unitised. Panel construction refers to a pool construction system using components, pieces or panel sections that have been manufactured in a production plant, factory prepared, shipped to the jobsite, and then erected piece by piece on site. Unitised construction describes pool construction systems whose components are manufactured in the plant, factory prepared and assembled into large complete sections, then shipped to the jobsite as complete units. Each unit is then connected together to form the pool structure. Panel construction takes less time in the factory, but takes longer to assemble on-site and presents some potential quality control issues. Unitised construction takes longer to manufacture in the factory, however quality control can be strictly monitored, and it greatly accelerates the erection of the pool on-site.

In the last 18 years Invarmex have gradually been gaining customers and the company now has some 200 installations in the UK and 800 in mainland Europe. Stainless steel has many advantages over concrete. A concrete pool is 30 times heavier than stainless steel and this factor is particularly important if the pool is to be installed at high level.


A normal sized swimming pool in stainless steel weighs around 10 metric tons – without water. A same sized concrete pool weighs around 300 metric tons – without water. This is a major difference for the construction that will support and surround the pool. Stainless steel therefore gives a designer more scope in terms of the location of a new pool. Stainless steel pools are also quicker to install and are trouble free during the construction period.
