FILTERS & FILTER MEDIA

Waterco’s capacity for manufacturing a wide range of standard equipment, as well as its capability of adapting the product to customer’s specifications has made its Micron and Hydron fibreglass vessels suitable for water theme parks, commercial swimming pools, hotel/resort pools, aquaculture, cooling towers, drinking water systems, food/beverage processing, industrial process, water features, zoos and aquariums.

SAND FILTER OPTIONS FROM BOSTA

Sand filters have been the accepted standard for pool filtration for many years with numerous manufacturers offering filters of varying look and feel but, ultimately, they all offer the same function. All filters require a multiport valve and use filter laterals positioned in very similar ways, therefore Bosta UK want to offer pool users and professionals filters which break away from the norm. They have looked at the market and believe they have a filter offering a unique selling point to the pool owner and a second option which benefits the pool professional carrying out service and maintenance.

For the pool owner the goal is to have crystal clear pool water and, in order to obtain this, Bosta UK believe you have to filter out smaller particles than standard sand filters. The Pentair ‘Clearpro’ filter lateral system will filter particles down to 10 microns, as opposed to the standard 35 microns. This finer filtration is achieved by using micro-fibre laterals which are stronger, extract smaller particles, and yet have 90% open surface area allowing you to filter at

the sand starts to solidify inside the filter making backwashing a difficult task. Many filters have a small opening of approximately 6 inches in diameter which is needed to scoop out the unwanted sand. On the Mega SMG filter the opening is over 10 inches which makes sand removal a much easier task. Combine this benefit with an attractive design, quality manufacturing processes and a fantastic price should make the Mega SMG filter the filter of choice for everyone.

The Mega SMG side mount sand filter from Bosta is also available in a top mount option

slower speeds. This slower filtration rate also allows the use of energy-efficient variable speed pumps saving on electricity costs for the pool owner.

For the pool professional their second option is the Mega SMG side mount and top mount (new for 2015) sand filters. Whilst the quality finish and sleek design was well received at pool shows in 2014 it is the unique inspection lid which offers the significant difference over other sand filters on the market. One of the most time consuming tasks performed by maintenance engineers are sand changes, required when

generally produce significantly lower cartridge performance, with filters only lasting a few weeks, at best, months. This compares with REEMAY life expectancy of between one and two years. During which the depth and effectiveness of the filtration is superior and uniform. Darlly Europe guarantees their filters for 12 months they are the only manufacturer to do this,” noted Gil Gingell Pool technicians understand the substandard filter fabric means a substandard filter. One that clogs quicker requires more frequent cleaning and creates inferior water conditions. The end result is the filter cartridge needs replacing more frequently. It is important therefore to maintain a clean and healthy filtration system in the hot tub and spa, this is critical in a leisure environment. The filter in a hot tub is the hardest piece of equipment in the water care system to keep impeccably clean. The filter works continuously to keep crystal clear water free of impurities such as body oils, debris and sediments (contaminates). “A dirty, clogged or worn-out filter will fail in its job of trapping contaminants, it will also reduce the flow rate from the jets and create considerable pressure upon the pumps, often resulting in

AQUA FILTERS – NOT YOUR AVERAGE FILTER Aqua Water Systems’ Aquarius filters are manufactured in ultra-hygienic polypropylene. Using the latest technologies, the top and bottom are separately injection moulded, quality checked and heat bonded together at over 200ºC. Then they are inspected again and finally pressure tested to ensure they are up to Aqua’s precise quality standards. Nothing leaves the factory in Italy until then. The Aquarius range is highly efficient and easy to service. This is because they are manufactured from high grade virgin polypropylene. They will give many years of service without the internal surface break down suffered with other materials. There are several models available. The standard side mount, but also top mount and even a small skid mount with pump joined on. This is ideal for locations where space is at a premium.

A spokesman from Aqua Water Systems, manufacturers of the Aquarius filter range says: “Unfortunately the market is flooded with cheaper and sometimes substandard filters not made within Europe. All of our filters come with a long warranty and the assurance that nothing leaves

burnt out compressors, or worse still a burnt out pump, especially if it’s a small circulation pump. On a recent survey of service engineers this was stated as one of the top three reasons for a call- out. REEMAY with Microban® Antimicrobial is growing in demand. This provides users added protection against microbial growth on the filter cartridge,” said Gil Gingell

Darlly Europe Limited is the number one supplier of

premium quality filter cartridges

in Europe; Darlly filters use REEMAY® filtration media.

Darlly, who are about to move in to a 40,000 sq metre state- of-the-art facility continues to invest heavily in research and development to improve the effectiveness of filtration and they work closely with REEMAY.
