Pool and spa industry marketing company Doric Marketing has launched a new website following a postponement from earlier in the year after the company’s Managing Director, Dorian Davies was rushed to hospital at the beginning of April requiring emergency surgery on his spine. Dorian told us: “It was really frightening at the time. I woke up one Saturday morning not being able to move or feel anything from my waist down. It transpired that I had a disc which ruptured so badly it was putting pressure on my spinal cord and effectively cutting off messages to and from all the nerves below the disc.

“I was warned before they operated that, due to the severity of the nerve damage I suffered, that there was a good chance I would be in a wheelchair when I came out of the op. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case,

and I was able to walk again a couple of days later, albeit a little shakily.” Dorian took the decision to delay the launch of the new Doric website in light of his health issues. His medical team were also keen to ensure that he got enough rest and rehabilitation in the weeks immediately following his surgery. “I’ve been told that, of all the body’s tissues, nerves take the longest to repair. They’re also keen to remind me that I underwent a very major procedure and I have many months of recovery and rehabilitation ahead of me, though because I was operated on relatively quickly my long term prognosis is good. I’ve therefore decided that now is the right time to ramp things up again, and the launch of the website is obviously key to that.” Dorian finished by saying: “Lastly, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this really is the best industry with the best people in it, and that’s been proven since I became ill. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my many friends and customers who have sent me cards and messages of support and offers of help, and kept sending business my way, I really have been overwhelmed and touched by the kindness and level of support I've received.”

Golden Coast Adds To Its Technical Sales Staff

The latest young recruit to Golden Coast’s technical sales team is an enthusiastic 24-year-old, Charlotte Stacey, who is keen to develop her specialist knowledge of heating,

ventilation and chemicals. Most recently, Charlotte has been working as a technical sales and installation adviser for a company supplying range cookers, stoves and other appliances, but her career to date has also included a variety of administrative roles. She was educated in Golden Coast’s Devon home area, at Bideford College and Plymouth University. With hobbies that include surfing, hiking and travelling, Charlotte should fit in well with a team whose interests tend to focus on active,

healthy recreation. Welcoming her to the company, Managing Director Jamie Adams says: “Charlotte impressed us with her highly motivated attitude and her communication skills, both of which will be essential to success in her new role.

“Having worked in technical sales before, albeit with a different range of products, we have every confidence that she will do an excellent job and are already seeing the benefits of her commitment to gaining an in-depth knowledge of our product catalogue. Her administrative skills should also prove very useful, as good organisation always makes life easier for colleagues and customers alike.”
