DOSING PUMPS & CONTROL SYSTEMS

The TEC2000 Chemical Controller from Topline

Bayrol Pool Manager from Pollet Pool Group

All Topline pool controllers are supplied pre-mounted on an acrylic backboard, for ease of installation, and are factory calibrated requiring no pH buffers, simply standardising against the sample cell phenol red test.

NEXT GENERATION TREATMENTS FROM GOLDEN COAST Technological advances from Triogen and Etatron provide the key to healthy water quality. Independent studies have revealed that as many as 10% of UK swimming pools contain harmful parasites and bacteria; while as many as 20% contain inadequate levels of chlorine – creating a potential breeding ground for microbes, including e-coli. Water may look clean and safe, but special care must be taken by those managing pools to be absolutely certain water is free from harm.

Golden Coast Managing Director Jamie Adams says: “The key to this lies in the next generation of treatments which all pool owners – whether domestic or commercial – can rely upon to keep their water healthy all year round.”

For domestic pool owners, Italian manufacturer Etatron offers automated solutions which take the hassle out of water testing and chemical dosing with its ePool dosing system, which features a no-nonsense intuitive controller. Available exclusively in the UK through Golden Coast, this energy-efficient dosing system automatically controls pH, redox, chlorine and conductivity. It is supplied with a filter pump interlock as standard – ensuring a much longer life. Priced under £600, it’s an affordable dosing solution which can also be retrofitted to older, existing pools.

The eControl is the latest addition to the Etatron monitoring range. Developed for use with ePool, it is well-suited for use with pH, where both full control and an erosion feeder for water sanitation are required. For commercial applications, Triogen’s water treatment systems, which are available exclusively through Golden Coast in the UK, utilise patented designs and innovative technology to combat contaminants.

CASE STUDY: Certikin And EMEC Provide Perfect Chemistry

The Mottram Hall Club and Spa ranks as one of Cheshire’s finest spas with seven luxury treatment rooms. Integral to the complex’s success is the dosing system. World Leisure UK chose the tried and tested Certikin chemical system and controller for the outdoor spa plant room and Certikin oversaw the installation and carried out staff training with the hotel’s leisure operators. Certikin, with its partner EMEC, launched a renewed range of dosing equipment in 2010 focusing specifically on the fundamental monitoring and control of wet leisure installations.

MD of EMEC, Simon Jay, explains the thinking behind the De Vere’s tailor-made system: “This installation centres on closed Amperometric probe reading technology. A closed amperometric probe relies on a semi permeable membrane that selectively allows the transition of electrons. With the aid of an internal electrolyte solution, the traditional ‘galvanometric cell’ is protected by this arrangement, which in turn generates a stable and reliable voltage output. The

membrane must only be exposed to a maximum pressure of 1 Bar with its life directly related to the exposure of both flow and pressure variances.

“Closed amperometric membrane probe technology isn’t new and has been commonplace within industrial sanitiser applications for many years. Certikin felt it should form a key component in the new range, given the stability and reliability that a probe of this type offers. The installation of a closed amperometric probe substantially reduces the need to recalibrate, and in many circumstances a commercial installation can go from one quarterly preventative service visit to the next without the need for operator intervention.” In conclusion, World Leisure’s Director Simon Smith says: “Since the installation, we have been in constant touch with the site and they have been delighted with the system and controls, both from their point of view and, more importantly, the end users’ as this is usually one of the areas that any leisure facility can struggle with.”
