Berkshire couple have finally realised their dream and found a beautiful new home in their favourite town of Dartmouth and a new business venture in Exeter called Speccies – The Specs Warehouse. Steve Allen and Debbie Mitchell are really excited about their new Speccies franchise, which is basically an optical laboratory outlet, enabling them to offer the people of South Devon a brand new way to purchase quality spectacles with a top quality personal service at a previously unheard of low price. Steve says “We are able to do this because we are a dispensing only operation so we don’t have the high overheads of employing a resident Optometrist on the premises and we have our own lab so there is no mark up on the quality lenses we use.

Fulfilling the dream A

they are required for.

Our shop in South Street couldn’t be easier to find as it is just off the High Street and opposite the Matford Park and Ride bus stop in Exeter.”

“Most people are shocked at the price when they get their first quotation for prescription spectacles but we can now offer the same (if not better) quality spectacles at a greatly reduced price compared to the conventional high street opticians. People just need to bring their prescription along, we check to see what sort of lenses they require, take their facial measurements and help them to choose the correct glasses not only for the individual but for the tasks

Steve and Debbie are also really looking forward to their one day off a week when they can enjoy their new home on the outskirts of Dartmouth – close enough to walk into town but just far enough away to not hear a sound other than the twittering of birds (and the odd seagull of course) – just perfect!
