LIFTING FEATURE

WE HAVE FEATURED ARTICLES AND CASE STUDIES ON BOTH KONECRANES AND TAG ENERGY SOLUTIONS ON A NUMBER OF OCCASIONS WITHIN PREVIOUS EDITIONS

It is always good to see companies working together for the benefit of the industry and we are very pleased to welcome Konecranes as our sponsors for this interesting Lifting Feature.

KONECRANES LIFTING TECHNOLOGY IN OPERATION AT TAG ENERGY SOLUTIONS

The 55t crane also has a magnet arrangement on a rigid beam, however the trolley is capable of rotation to allow plates to be turned to suit the assembly beds. The other cranes are hook cranes and they can handle a ‘C’ hook for lifting large circular elements of the wind turbine towers.

STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY All cranes are fitted with Konecranes state-of-the-art technology, including DynAC variable speed control on cross and long travel motions and DynAHoist variable speed control on the main hoists. Cranes have warning horns and flashing lights for safe operation.

TAG Energy Solutions has large facilities based on the River Tees on the North East coast of the UK where it serves the offshore energy industry and has expanded its capabilities to serve the growing renewable energy sector supplying design, project management and the construction of large onshore and offshore structures.

Within these state of the art facilities there are four Konecranes CXTD double girder overhead cranes operating with specialist components required in the manufacture of offshore wind turbine foundations, platforms and wind turbine towers.

SPECIFICATIONS

Operating with a 32m span the four cranes are: 60/5t, 55/5t, 50/5t and a 30/5t. All cranes have 5t auxiliary hoists and the 60t crane is equipped with a telescopic lifting beam equipped with magnets suspended from twin 30t hoists giving 35t lifting capability under the magnet beam.

Other features include Konecranes Remox Radio control, festoon cross crane cabling, fully enclosed drive transmissions, disc brakes, sodium vapour floodlights, galvanised ropes and Konecranes ControlPro Safety and performance control units that extends the crane’s life; enhances performance and safety. This ensures that maintenance requirements are scheduled to suit actual usage, and unscheduled shutdowns are avoided.
