INTRODUCTION

WIND ENERGY NETWORK is a very different magazine published every other month and is also available online www.windenergynetwork.co.uk. Having researched the industry in depth, we could find no publication which seeks to communicate and focus on the people within it, both on and offshore: so Wind Energy Network was born.

When visiting different areas of the industry, in both geographical and business areas, I have found a distinct lack of communication within the industry as a whole. This is reflective of the youth of the industry and that many companies are just becoming involved because of new opportunities and developments.

I want to play my part in ensuring this is the best vehicle of communication for all involved in the wind energy industry. My vision is to bring a communication centre of activity using not only printed, but also its online counterpart. In time, expanding this to embrace all the digital communication tools available.

Your contributions will be vital to this success so please do not hesitate to get in touch, whether by email or phone, so that you can help us in our quest.

A BRIGHT and BREEZY Welcome!

The policy of editorial to adverts will be 70:30% in favour of editorial, to ensure we remain a quality publication, and not just a magazine full of adverts.

Some publishing houses invariably change editorial policy, and lean more to advertising, to ensure maximum profit. This we believe is a short sighted approach. With emphasis on adverts over editorial, readership will decline over time. We have therefore created our own publishing house (Green Energy Publishing Ltd) to ensure this does not happen, ensuring editorial control and thus a continued quality publication.

I hope you will find the Supply Chain Register to be an easy reference for companies involved in the industry and should help you find what you want, when you want it. The free basic entry contains your company name and your website address and the online version also includes your telephone number. Chargeable enhanced entries are limited to 10% of entries so that they remain enhanced!

Our wish is to remain a quality publication with good stories about you and your industry, so although I have written a reasonable amount in the launch issue, this is set to change quickly following your contributions, our interviews with you, and the further coverage of your events and conferences.

Duncan McGilvray Editor | Wind Energy Network

No apologies for the title – you’ll get used to the humour!
